Welcome, and thank you for visiting our website!
The Old Farm House Chickens (TOFH) is a mother-daughter owned hobby farm located in Cross Roads, Texas, which is 10 miles east of Denton and 20 miles west of McKinney. We got our name from friends and visitors coming to our farm. Development and new suburban neighborhoods are beginning to surround us. Many people have said we will soon be "that old farm house that sits in the middle of the city."
Although we have had poultry for many years, we began breeding very rare and exotic breeds in the spring of 2012. Many of the chickens we breed have been imported from around the world and are or were nearly extinct. We are working with other breeders across the nation to help preserve these beautiful and precious breeds. We also occasionally have a variety of other less rare heritage breeds, such as Barred Plymouth Rocks, Wyandottes, Cochins, and Buff Orpingtons that are suitable for free-ranging in the country and/or backyard urban living.
One cannot go wrong when it comes to having chickens. Many make wonderful outdoor pets (although with the invention of the chicken "diaper," more and more people are keeping them as indoor pets--especially the tiny Seramas!) Almost all chickens are good foragers and will help with grasshopper and bug control. Most importantly, they will lay wonderful, fresh eggs much more suitable for eating and baking than store-bought eggs. Whatever your needs, The Old Farm House Chickens has a variety of chicken breeds that should accommodate you. We may be contacted at [email protected]
